Silesian University of Technology at the aviation event "Nights under the wings"
On May 13th and 14th, 2023, the annual event "Nights under the wings" took place at the airport in Gliwice. The Silesian University of Technology exercised scientific supervision and presented the University's rich educational offer, with particular emphasis on aviation education.
As part of the presentation, two stands of unmanned aerial vehicle simulators were at the disposal of the visitors. There was also an opportunity to get acquainted with the functioning of didactic and research stations. Visitors eagerly watched the aircraft of the Academic Aviation Centre, as well as design works carried out by students of the University Research Clubs: Unmanned (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and Gliding Research Club.
An undoubted attraction was also the opportunity to talk directly with academic teachers and students of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering. Future and current secondary school graduates were interested in taking up studies, especially in the field of transport, where during their studies you can obtain an airplane pilot license - ATPL(A) and an aircraft mechanic for turbine aircraft. Many questions also concerned the new field of Aviation and Space Engineering, which complements the aviation offer at the Silesian University of Technology.
The stand of the University of Technology was eagerly visited by the participants of the event, and the fact of interest is evidenced by the number of people using the UAV simulators, as there were over 750 of them in two days.
