Silesian University of Technology and Skoda Auto University have signed a cooperation agreement
Silesian University of Technology and Skoda Auto University declared their willingness to cooperate in the field of joint research, but also in the training of students and staff.
On the 15th of January 2025, an agreement was signed between the Silesian University of Technology and Skoda Auto University in the Czech Republic. Representatives of the university met at the Silesian University of Technology, where they presented the activities of both institutions and pointed out possible fields for cooperation.
“The cooperation began a long time ago with joint participation in international conferences and publications of scientists from the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering with scientists from Skoda Auto University. Now we have decided to expand it to include preparation of joint research projects and mutual training of staff and students in the field of automotive – said Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Staniek, Prof. SUT– Vice Rector for Collaboration with Civic and Economic Environment of the Silesian University of Technology
Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk sees many benefits in establishing new international cooperation.
- Our scientists are conducting research in the broadly understood field of automotive industry. The university we meet today is also strongly involved in this type of work. We hope that by signing the agreement with Skoda Auto University we will expand our capabilities in conducting research in the field of automotive – said the Rector and added that in the near future, especially students and scientists involved in PBL projects, which include cooperation with foreign partners, may benefit from this.
The agreement between Skoda Auto University and the Silesian University of Technology was signed by Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Sebastian Werle Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation Silesian University of Technology and Prof. Dr Eng. Ondřej Krejcar, Rector of Skoda Auto University.
The person responsible for the implementation of the agreement on the part of the Czech Republic will be Prof. Radim Lenort, who noted that although Skoda Auto University has only 25 years of tradition, it is the only private university in the Czech Republic that is run by the VW Group and educates staff in the field of economics and technical experts.
- We care about the development of technical education; hence we hope for fruitful cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology. We believe that together we can apply for international projects, among others from the Horizon Europe program – said Prof. Lenort.
Skoda Auto University conducts, among others, 3.5-year education in first cycle studies. One of the semesters all covers internships in companies with which the university cooperates. The University also educates dual studies and carries out MBA studies in the field of automotive industry in an online form. In addition, the institution boasts a prestigious American ACBSP accreditation for economic directions.
The agreement signed between the Silesian University of Technology and Skoda Auto University includes cooperation in all academic areas of common interest, including joint activities for the education of students and doctoral students, scientific research, as well as academic exchange of students and employees.
