Silesian University of Technology Among the Leading Universities in Poland’s New Academic Ranking developed by the Work & Science Foundation
Silesian University of Technology ranked 6th in the inaugural edition of the Ranking of Polish Universities, developed by the Work & Science Foundation and published by Forum Akademickie, while also securing 3rd place among Poland’s technical universities and taking the top national position in the TOP 1% category of scientific publications according to the Scopus database.
The ranking assessed 101 higher education institutions across the country. Silesian University of Technology secured 3rd place among technical universities and achieved the highest score nationwide in the category measuring scientific publications ranked among the Top 1% according to the Scopus database.
The ranking focuses on research excellence and scientific performance. Its methodology is based on six indicators: academic distinctions and awards, scientific publications, Top 1% publications, representation in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list (compiled in cooperation with Elsevier), the number of doctoral candidates, and institutional efficiency.
With an overall score of 83.23 points, Silesian University of Technology placed 6th nationally and 3rd among technical universities. The SUT recorded its strongest result in the “Top 1% Publications” category, receiving the maximum score of 100 points and taking first place in Poland. It also performed exceptionally well in institutional efficiency (97.33 points), representation in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking (75.18 points), and overall scientific publication output (66.81 points).
These results reflect the University’s growing standing within the higher education and research sector. They are the outcome of many years of dedication and commitment from the University’s academic staff, combined with the consistent implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening research excellence and enhancing the international visibility of its scientific achievements.
