Universities jointly inaugurated the academic year 2022/2023

On Friday, representatives of the academic communities of seven Katowice public universities celebrated the ceremonial inauguration of the new academic year 2022/2023 at the inter-university inauguration. The ceremony took place in Katowice - the European City of Science 2024. 

The event was attended by representatives - headed by Rectors - of seven Katowice public universities that make up the Katowice - City of Science Academic Consortium. It consists of:

• City of Katowice (strategic partner of the Consortium),
• Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice,
• Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice,
• Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice,
• Silesian University of Technology,
• Medical University of Silesia in Katowice,
• University of Economics in Katowice
• University of Silesia in Katowice(leader).

The ceremony began with a march of the rectors' processions through the streets of Katowice. Then, at the seat of the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra, the rectors spoke to the assembled audience. There was also matriculation and the oath of doctoral students. Inaugural lecture was presented by prof. Michael Matlosz - president of EuroScience. A concert of the Polish Contractor National Radio Symphony Orchestra was also a part of celebrations of the event.
