Silesian Science Festival Katowice

The seventh edition of the Silesian Science Festival will be held from December 9^th to 11^th, 2023 in Katowice. This year's festival will be related to the inauguration of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. In connection with these events, a press conference was held in the rector's office of the University of Silesia. 

Representatives of universities and local governments took part in the conference. The Silesian University of Technology was represented by dr hab. Eng Tomasz Trawinski, prof. SUT, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Promotion. During the event, the program and the greatest attractions of the Silesian Science Festival were presented. 

– The festival has become a permanent fixture in the calendar of regional events and has become a brand in itself, attracting crowds of residents of the region every year. The slogan of this year's edition of the event "Science is the future" is not accidental. Silesia is entering a decisive time of transformation in which science will play a key role. It is worth recalling that the Silesian Voivodeship strongly supports universities and academic communities, because it is our graduates who will decide what the image of our region will be in the coming decades. Interest in science and its popularization is constantly growing, and we provide good energy to promote knowledge and education. The level and effectiveness of education will determine the level of qualifications of graduates and young people to whom we will soon entrust the management of the region - said the Marshal of Silesian Voivodeship Jakub Chełstowski.

Silesian universities will present themselves during the festival, the Silesian University of Technology will have as many as 30 stands.  Participants will be able to become familiar with, among others: with the opportunities and threats brought by artificial intelligence and explore the secrets of modern transport. The Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis will also be present, presenting, among others, mobile urbanity of the future. The opportunity to design a modern bus model will be a lot of fun for the youngest festival participants. The Industrial and Post-Industrial Diseases Zone will remind us about civilization threats, while in the Motorsport Zone we will learn about technological innovations in the automotive industry.

The seventh edition of ŚFN (Silesian Science Festival) will be accompanied by the opening weekend of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 celebrations, which will begin the KATOPOLIS scientific and artistic spectacle opening the EMNK 2024 celebrations - on December 9^th  in Spodek.
