Silesian Innovator Award for scientists of the Silesian University of Technology
A specialist drone for distributing vaccines to foxes, by scientists from the Silesian University of Technology - has been appreciated once again! The invention received the award of the chairman of the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis during the Innovator of Silesia awards gala.
The authors of the solution are: dr hab. Eng. Roman Czyba, prof. SUT; Dr Eng. Piotr Czekalski; Dr. Eng. Jaroslaw Domin.
- We are extremely happy with the award and the fact that our idea and its implementation have been noticed as innovations and appreciated by the jury of the Innovator of Silesia 2022 competition. This confirms our belief that this type of interdisciplinary projects is the right direction for our research and development activities - said Roman Czyba.
He reminded that the solution developed at the Silesian University of Technology is unmanned flying platform, i.e. a specialized drone, for precise distribution of vaccines in the process of oral vaccination of foxes. The device/invention was developed by a team of scientists and students from the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, with the participation of experts: from the Voivodship Veterinary Inspectorate, Ms. Inspector lek. vet. Joanna Gąsiorczyk-Jamrozy and Zbigniew Gorol, an experienced operator of flying platforms from Flytronic ARE
The project included the development of a mechatronic, electronic solution and software, both embedded and software user interface for mobile devices and PCs. – The developed solution is scalable and can be adapted to many flying platforms, and the vaccine distribution process itself can also include other animal species and other types of vaccines. The solution was developed as part of the fifth and seventh editions of the PBL project, said Piotr Czekalski.
This is another award for this invention. – The first is the Gold Medal obtained at the INTARG'2022 International Invention and Innovation Fair, along with a distinction awarded by the French organization of innovators. We hope that the awards will contribute to the effective commercialization of our solution and its implementation on a large scale - emphasized Jarosław Domin.
The Innovator of Silesia competition is organized by the Upper Silesian Accelerator of Market Entrepreneurship as part of the Enterprise Europe Network project. Its idea is to promote and reward the most innovative entities from the Silesian Voivodeship. The final gala of the fourteenth edition of the competition took place on November 25th at the Municipal Theatre in Gliwice.
