- Priority Research Area 6 of the Silesian University of Technology,
- The Department of Geotechnical Engineering and Mineral Resources Exploitation,
- The Section of Geomechanics, Mining and Tunnel Construction of the Mining Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Katowice Branch.
Presentation Titles:
- Prof. Mazni Omar: “An AI-Enabled Geospatial Information Sharing Framework for Flood Risk Management”.
- Prof. Kamal Sharif: “Green Supply Chain and Logistics Practices for Sustainable Performance”.
The guests will visit the Department on March 26/27 of this year, invited by Assist. Prof. at SUT, Krzysztof Tomiczek, PhD.
About the Presenters:
Prof. Mazni Omar is an associate professor at the School of Computer Science (SOC) and a researcher at the Institute of Advanced and Intelligent Digital Solutions (IASDO) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). She holds professional certifications in software testing, specifically CTFL and CTFL-AT. Focusing on software engineering, her research interests include advanced software project management, software development processes, software quality, and data mining. She has made significant contributions to her field, publishing numerous articles in prestigious journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. She has served as a coordinator for grants and research projects, ranging from university grants to grants from national and international agencies and international industrial corporations. Prof. Omar collaborates closely with Asian universities, including those in Indonesia and Pakistan, and actively participates in EU Erasmus+ projects. Prof. Mazni’s research extends beyond computer science to include social science applications related to the human aspects of advanced software engineering.
Prof. Kamal Sharif is a distinguished professor in the Department of Logistics and Transportation at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM MY). Drawing on over 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Prof. Sharif specializes in supply chain management within this sector. His professional career also involves analyzing the complex dynamics of the oil and gas industry and, more broadly, raw material supply chains. His current research focuses on supply chain optimization, sustainable development, risk-based systems, operational efficiency, and ESG. His research portfolio also includes the science of knowledge and information systems/transportation information. In addition to his academic work, Prof. Kamal Sharif serves as a consultant to companies in the logistics industry. In his research, he combines practical knowledge, theory, and practice, taking a multifaceted approach to research, education, and consulting in the evolving world of logistics and technology.
