Security Day at the Silesian University of Technology
The security of the academic community is a very important topic at the Silesian University of Technology. That is why on Monday, May the 19th, a series of events will begin, which will remind us what security procedures work at our University and which units take care of our safety. All of this will happen during Safety Week. The culmination of this initiative will be a unique event to which we would like to invite everyone – Security Day, which will take place on May the 21st from 10.00-14.00 in front of the building of the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology.
Students, scientists, employees of the Silesian University of Technology – this is an event for you. This is a chance to get acquainted with the subject of safety by visiting numerous stands that will present:
• AGAT Military Unit – Gliwice
• OHS - Occupational Health and Safety Inspectorate of Silesian University of Technology
• Department of Safety Engineering
• Student Science Club: “Office of Unrestrained Need for Safety Information”
• The Academic Guard
• Regional Labour Inspectorate
• District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gliwice
• Municipal Guards in Gliwice
At the Occupational Health and Safety Inspectorate, each participant will have the opportunity to take part in practical first aid exercises using an AED, training phantoms, ACT FAST choking vest, artificial wounds, a presentation of the Trauma Kit and a safety quiz.
In addition, as part of the Safety Week, the OHS Inspectorate will launch an additional training in the field of occupational safety and health on the Remote Education Platform, addressed to students who have not yet fulfilled this obligation.
We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to take advantage of this training, which will be available to students from 19-25 May 2025.
The Department of Safety Engineering will present rescue kits and workshops “First Aid in VR – learn, react, save” at its stand.
In turn, the Student Science Club “Office of Unrestrained Need for Safety Information” invites to the activity “Influence of the state of intoxication on safety” with the use of drugs and alcohol goggles.
On that day, there will be a stand of our Academic Guard on campus, which will present a car equipped with an AED.
The information stand will also be prepared by the Regional Labour Inspectorate, which will provide legal advice on the legal protection of the employment relationship, legality of employment and technical safety at work.
The District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gliwice will invite you to participate in the information and educational campaign entitled “New Drugs – New Threats.” The main goal of the campaign is to prevent the use of psychoactive substances, in particular new drugs, but also alcohol, tobacco and medications by young people. The stand will be equipped with alcohol goggles, narcolayer, and an educational suitcase.
The event is an excellent opportunity to remind you that the Health and Safety Inspectorate ensures that the Silesian University of Technology is a safe and friendly place to learn, work and develop, which is why, among others:
• it conducts occupational safety and health pre-training – mandatory and useful before the start of classes,
• we conduct accident risk proceedings during classes at the university,
• we control working conditions and education in laboratories, workshops, and teaching rooms,
• we take part in the development of instructions and procedures at work and education positions,
• we support the organization of events so that they are safe and comply with regulations,
• we advise, answer questions, and dispel doubts related to safety – it is worth writing to us or coming to meet us in person!
