Scientists from Silesian University of Technology awarded during the jubilee Construction Gala
The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, dr Eng. arch. Klaudiusz Fross, prof. SUT and dr Krzysztof Groń, vice-dean for cooperation and development, awarded during the 25th anniversary Construction Gala. The event took place on November 17th , 2023, at the Jan Kiepura Concert Hall in Sosnowiec.
Dr hab. Eng. arch. Klaudiusz Fross, prof. SUT received the honorary title "Personality of Silesian Civil Engineering" - for outstanding achievements in civil engineering. Vice-Dean dr Krzysztof Groń received the honorary title "Authority in Civil Engineering and Silesian Economy".
The gala was attended by over 400 people from the construction industry and invited parliamentarians, representatives of universities and authorities of Silesian cities and communes. The gala was organized by the Silesian Chamber of Civil Engineering and the Silesian District Chamber of Civil Engineering Engineers. During the Gala, state awards and distinctions from professional chambers are presented.
Dean Fross also presented another BenchMan statuette. This year, the Art and Design in Public Space award went to the Brine Graduation Tower Complex in the Busko-Zdrój Spa Park for its architecturally unique graduation tower complex and the promotion of good design. The award is granted under the patronage of the Silesian Chamber of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology.
The Art & Design in Public Space Award - Art and Design in Public Space and the BenchMan Statuette are a special distinction that supports and promotes art and design in public space. Awards and Statuettes are granted to interesting projects, interesting objects, inspiring public spaces, small architectural objects as well as people, companies and institutions promoting design. The originator and owner of the distinction, the author of the statuette and the chairman of the Awards Committee is Professor Klaudiusz Fross, dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology. The origin of the award is the Art & Design in Public Space research program conducted at the university. The inspiration for the statuette is the first BenchMan overlay no. 1, implemented on the campus of the Silesian University of Technology in 2020, which received the Main Prize of Expo Gliwice. The award is recommended by the Silesian Chamber of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology. So far, the award has been granted to a total of 17 entities, companies, institutions and personalities.
