Science and Sail 2024 – BUP summer school
BUP and Klaipeda University invite you to participate in Science and Sail 2024, a summer school focusing on the environment of the Baltic Sea. Qualified students will study the sensitive environment of the Baltic Sea, both on land and at sea, with leading experts from across the region.
The summer school will be held on August 4-11 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Part of the classes will take place on board the Brabander sailing ship belonging to the University of Klaipeda, which will sail on the south-eastern part of the Baltic Sea, conducting tests and collecting samples. Participants will also explore the unique coastal environment of the Curonian Spit and the Nemunas Delta, learning about the impact and solutions of climate change, biodiversity loss and human aspects of the unique Baltic Sea environment.
The event is free of charge and applications are open to university students participating in BUP. In total, thirty-six undergraduate and graduate students from universities participating in BUP will be selected.
Three doctoral students will also be accepted. PhD students will have a unique opportunity to take part in the full program together with students while practicing their teaching and mentoring skills. The participating PhD student will support students in the context of work. Students from all types of study programs are accepted and no prior knowledge of the Baltic Sea environment is required.
