Science and Journalism Speed Dating
Science and journalism speed dating will take place at the Silesian University of Technology. The meetings will be preceded by free training in soft skills in scientific communication. We invite you to participate in the event on November 21st.
Another edition of science and journalism speed dating is ahead of us, carried out as part of the project of the Science Advocates Association. The meeting takes the form of "speed dating" and involves establishing cooperation between university representatives and journalists and exchanging experiences in the field of disseminating information about scientific research.
The meetings will be preceded by training in soft skills in Ars Mollis science communication, conducted by experts from the Science Advocates Association.
Scientists and PhD students from universities and research centres from the Silesian Voivodeship who did not participate in previous editions of the project can take part in the event.
The training and science-journalism speed dating will take place on Tuesday, November 21, at 09:00-15:00 at the Centre of New Technologies of the Silesian University of Technology (ul. Konarskiego 22B, Gliwice).

7 x ARS MOLLIS training and SPEED DATING in 2023
The Ars Mollis and Science and Journalism Speed Dating training is a project initiated in 2014 by the Copernicus Science Centre, we have been meeting in Warsaw for 3 years. In 2017, the project launched all over Poland. The organizers were joined by the Association of Science Advocates (the similarity of names is not accidental - the Association was created partly inspired by the Science Advocates project). Thanks to our combined energy, at the turn of 2017 and 2018, we organized as many as 6 meetings across the country, and thanks to the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in the fall of 2018 and 2019, we organized as many as 10 meetings combined with training for scientists. In 2019 and at the turn of 2021 and 2022, meetings were held in 8 facilities in the country.
We were supported by the Science and Technology Park in Gdynia , the Lodz University of Technology, the University of Life Sciences in Poznań , the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow , the Copernicus Centre Foundation , the Medical University of Lodz and the University of Wrocław , the Jan Długosz University of Humanities and Life Sciences in Częstochowa , Oncology Centre in Bydgoszcz , University of Gdańsk, West Pomeranian University of Technology , University of Białystok . Over the past 7 years, approximately 380 scientists and approximately 140 journalists from national and local media took part in the meetings of Science Advocates.
During this edition, with the support of MEiN, we intend to organize meetings in as many as 7 university cities. The centres that have expressed their readiness to accept these trainings are:
- University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn,
- Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice,
- Jagiellonian University in Krakow together with the Copernicus Centre Foundation,
- Medical University of Lublin,
- University of Białystok,
- Warsaw University of Technology,
- University of Gdansk.
In addition to the "dating" meeting, we provide scientists with free ARS MOLLIS training (4 hours) in the field of soft skills in scientific communication conducted by our best trainers.
