Ryszard Zdanowicz, doc. PŚ passed away

It is with deep regret that we inform you that on the 13th of January, 2022, Prof. Ryszard Zdanowicz passed away. The funeral ceremony took place on the 15th of January 2022 at 10:30 am at Roman Catholic cemetery on Piłsudskiego St. in Ruda Śląska.

A noble, kind-hearted and respected man, modest, righteous, sensitive to human affairs, valued and liked by students and colleagues, passed away. A meritorious academic teacher, a man of great knowledge and experience, a science organiser, and a tutor of many generations of students.

He was an employee of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 1972 to 2012; he was a member of the Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology from 1996 to 1998, and from 2002 to 2005; he was Secretary of the Silesian Section of Machine Tools and Tools from 1987 to 1999.

He was known for high commitment and dedication to teaching and scientific research work. He worked on issues related to the implementation of industrial robots and modeling and simulation of discrete manufacturing processes. He taught at bachelor’s, master's and doctoral level of studies.

He was the supervisor of 100 bachelor and master theses. He authored 26 textbooks and scripts, particularly valued among students and doctoral students of technical universities. He developed new lectures, exercises and laboratories in the field of robotisation of technological processes and modeling of manufacturing processes. He was the author of 70 publications (domestic and foreign journals), patents and utility models, as well as the author of computer tools supporting the creation of model systems for robotic systems.

For his scientific, teaching and organisational achievements, he was awarded the badge of Merit for the Silesian University of Technology, the Gold Cross of Merit, the Silver Cross of Merit, the Gold Medal for Long Service and the National Education Commission medal. He received numerous awards and distinctions, including the awards of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.
