Robert Lewandowski participated in tests conducted at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering

Robert Lewandowski, the captain of the Polish national football team, participated in tests conducted by scientists from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology. The tests were conducted at the European HealthTech Innovation Center (EHTIC) in Zabrze.

The screening programme for football players is one of many interesting projects conducted at the EHTIC, which is the most modern research and development centre for health technologies in this part of Europe.

According to Prof Marek Gzik, director of the EHTIC, the purpose of this programme is to support training, improve performance during a match and prevent injuries. - The research is conducted in cooperation with osteopaths and physiotherapists. It focuses on the analysis of movement, muscle activity, balance testing or response time to external stimuli. One of the first football players to undergo this test is the captain of the Polish national team, Robert Lewandowski - said Prof. Gzik.

The research was developed and conducted by an interdisciplinary team headed by Prof. Jacek Jurkojcio PhD, DSc (Department of Biomechatronics), Iga Garbowska PhD (Kliniaka Osteopatii Igi Garbowskiej ) and Bartłomiej Spałek MSc (Górnik Zabrze).
