Researchers’ Night - this Saturday!

The last countdown before Researchers' Night has begun! Already on Saturday at 15th , the largest event popularizing science at the Silesian University of Technology will begin. Over 180 activities await participants. Registration is required for some of them.

This year, the Researchers' Night takes place in four cities: Gliwice, Zabrze, Katowice and Rybnik. The password is: “In the eco vibe”

The ceremonial inauguration of the Researchers' Night will take place at 03.00 p.m. at the Centre of New Technologies of the Silesian University of Technology. There you will also be able to see many exhibition stands, and - among others - an electric racing car and a space station.

This year's program is rich and varied - it includes lectures, shows, workshops, exhibitions, concerts and a popular science talk show. Many activities take up environmental issues, including electromobility, environmental protection, eco-construction or ecology in architecture. Some activities will be broadcast live on the internet.

There will also be cultural activities, including a concert by the Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology (at 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm on the stairs at the Faculty of Chemistry) and a dance party with the Academic Dance Group "Dąbrowiacy" (from 3.00 pm on the promenade in front of the Faculty of Civil Engineering).

Among the many proposals and topics, there are: “Fantastic world of microorganisms", "Become a pilot of an unmanned aerial vehicle", "Space in our hands", "Chemical explosion of colours", "Astronaut test", "Biblosphere for the little ones, or fairy tales in the kids’ zone".

Science enthusiasts will also learn, among others:

  • how the processor works, or what the hacker knows;
  • how a skyscraper survives an earthquake;
  • what wealth is contained in kitchen waste;
  • how robots see our world;
  • why methane is always dangerous;
  • why microplastic is a macro problem;
  • how viscosity affects movement;

  • how to control the drone;
  • how to build a rover from Lego bricks.

The entire program is available at: www.nocnaukowcow.com.pl .

There you can also register for some of the activities (workshops) and compose your own Researchers' Night.

Participation in the event is free of charge.

The event was co-financed by the state budget of the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the "Social Responsibility of Science" program.
