Researchers' Night of the Silesian University of Technology 2023 - this year under the slogan: “Science without limits"
Over 170 activities devoted to 20 different science disciplines will be waiting for participants of this year's Researchers’ Night. The largest polytechnic popular science event is coming of age this year - it is already its 18th edition.
The 18th Researchers' Night of the Silesian University of Technology is ahead of us.
It will take place on October 7 at the university campuses in Gliwice, Zabrze, Katowice and Rybnik. This year, we are offering a refreshed formula - we have gathered most of the activities for you in one place, in the buildings of the Centre for New Technologies and the Educational and Congress Centre in Gliwice. Of course, we also invite you to the campus buildings in Katowice, Zabrze and Rybnik.
Popular science activities prepared by scientists, PhD students and students of the Silesian University of Technology are devoted to over 20 different disciplines - related to both technical sciences and those beyond engineering, including medicine, biology, linguistics, and art. And like every year, we cordially invite residents of the region interested in learning about scientific curiosities, participating in demonstrations or watching experiments.
This year's event is held under the slogan "Science without limits", and the organizers argue: science should be available to everyone, regardless of age, education, origin or health. That is why our scientists work on projects that improve the quality of life and support people with disabilities and seniors. You will be able to get to know them during the Researchers’ Night at specially prepared stands.
The lack of limits also has a second meaning at the Silesian University of Technology - it is a science that applies not only to terrestrial space, but also to outer space. Hence, there are many workshops, lectures and shows devoted to, among others, space engineering, where participants will be able to see why architects are needed in space, how to build a satellite or rocket and how solutions for astronauts can be used on Earth.
Researchers’ Night is an excellent opportunity to meet face to face with scientists and expand knowledge through practice and fun. During the event, participants will be able to learn, among others:
- how scientists study climate change,
- how engineers can help musicians play their instruments,
- are drones only used for filming and photography,
- Can a T-shirt with an ECG measurement be sewn from nanotubes?
- Can artificial intelligence replace humans at work?
- how to ensure safety in road transport,
- what is concrete and how is it made,
- what are mobile robots used for,
- how to learn chemistry in your own kitchen,
- Can biotechnology be learned in an escape room?
There will also be activities for the youngest - this year we will reopen the Kid Zone, whose creators have prepared board games, games, puzzles and theatre - as well as cultural activities, such as: theatre or dance.
The event will start on October 7 at 3:00 p.m. and last until 10:00 p.m. The program of the Silesian University of Technology Researchers’ Night will be published in September on the website: www.nocnaukowcow.com.pl
Participants will be able to register for selected activities via a special system. The event is free of charge, but to participate, you must obtain a free ticket in the registration system available on the website of the Silesian University of Technology Researchers’ Night.
