Ladies and Gentlemen,
Soon, on December 9th , we will start celebrating our common achievement, which is the title of European City of Science 2024 obtained by Katowice. We have every reason to share this pride with the City, because it was thanks to the involvement of the academic communities of seven public universities forming the Academic Consortium Katowice - City of Science.
For us together and for each university individually, the coming year will be a unique opportunity to draw attention to the wealth and diversity of scientific research, education, artistic and sports achievements that are the work of our scientists, athletes, artists, students.
On December 9th , 2023, we will begin an unprecedented event in the academic history of Poland. In Katowice and other academic cities in the Silesian Voivodeship, for 50 weeks in 2024, we will meet continuously with residents of our region and guests from Poland and abroad to better understand the world through science. But above all, to share this unique joy - the joy of knowing and creating that comes from science, art, sport and education.
We want the community of the Silesian Voivodeship, its institutions and leaders of social and economic life to see us - several thousand researchers, teachers and academics - working for the common good in the region's public universities.
Let's make the best of the coming year for ourselves, for the inhabitants of the region and for our universities.

The income from ticket sales will be donated to support the development of young people in the Silesian Voivodeship as part of the program implemented by the European City of Science Katowice 2024 in partnership with the National Children's Fund. www.miastonauki.pl
