On 3 September, during the international scientific conference on Transport of the 21st Century, the competition for the “Best Implementation of Innovative Solutions in Transport”, organised by Warsaw University of Technology, was concluded. Prof.Rafał Burdzik of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering, together with the research team, took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the category of scientific study.

Subsequent places were awarded to the following implementation projects:

- 1st place - team composed of: Prof. Rafał Burdzik, Bogusław Nowak, PhD, Eng. Jacek Rozmus, PhD, Eng, (Information system enhancing safety at category D level railway-road crossings – Rail Vehicle Identification System (RVIS)),

- 2nd place - team composed of: Prof. Rafał Burdzik Bogusław Nowak, PhD, Eng. Jacek Rozmus, PhD, Eng., (SOPiK System – Safety Support System for Pedestrians and Cyclists in the Immediate Vicinity of Large Vehicles),

- 3rd place - team composed of: Prof. Rafał Burdzik and Dawid Simiński, Eng., (System supporting the safety of pedestrians on and around the crossing).

It is worth emphasising that all competition laureates and members of the research team of Prof. Rafał Burdzik are all recently awarded PhD graduates (with distinction) and the current implementation PhD candidate in the final year of the Doctoral School at Silesian University of Technology.
