Prof. Michał Żelechower is an honorary member of the European Microbeam Analysis Society
Prof. Michał Żelechower – professor emeritus at the Silesian University of Technology, became an honorary member of the European Microbeam Analysis Society (EMAS). The professor is the only person from Poland who has been honoured with this distinction.
The European Microbeam Analysis Society (EMAS) is a scientific society with almost 500 members from around the world dealing with research methodology using corpuscular microbeams or EM radiation microbeams to study the structure of materials. It is opinion-forming and all global manufacturers of scientific equipment take into account the EMAS recommendations.
Professor Michał Żelechower is the only person from Poland who was honoured with this distinction. The professor (now retired) was employed at the Silesian University of Technology from 1972 to 2018. Throughout his scientific activity, he developed research methodology in the field of electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis. He is the author of two monographs in the field of X-ray microanalysis and related research methods (" Introduction to X-ray microanalysis " - 2007 and " Selected materials research methods " - 2015) and many publications using X-ray microanalysis methods in the study of materials, in particular optical glasses and glass-ceramics fluoride doped with transition metal ions.
Congratulations to the Professor!
