Prof. Marek Pawełczyk Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. has been elected the new Rector of the Silesian University of Technology
The Electoral College has elected the new Rector of the Silesian University of Technology for the term 2024-2028. This function will be held by Prof. Marek Pawełczyk Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng., current Vice-Rector for Science and Development. The elections were held on 23rd April 2024. The Rector-elect won 232 votes out of 295 cast.
“I would like to thank you for appreciating my work so far. Thank you for trusting my program. For the fact that you have discussed with me during debates, meetings, and also by sending questions, always very kind, always with great care for the University. As I thank our community, I am thinking of employees, PhD students and students. I will be working with a great group of vice-rectors. We will be open to dialog and discussion. I hope that our university will develop very dynamically. We will gain national and international recognition, and the Silesian University of Technology will be an excellent place to work, study, develop your own passions, interests and fulfil your dreams. I am glad that the goals I mentioned in my program have been enriched with your ideas. I see it as a great commitment. This is my declaration,” said Prof. Marek Pawełczyk PhD, D.Sc., Eng., Rector Elect., shortly after the announcement of the election results.
Professor Marek Pawełczyk is currently Vice-Rector for Science and Development. He is associated with the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science where he is the head of the Department of Measurements and Control Systems. He is the deputy director of the Institute of Automatic Control, for didactics, as well as the director of the Excellence Initiative – Research University program and the manager of the European University EURECA-PRO program at the Silesian University of Technology.
Professor Pawełczyk is a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and 4 ministerial teams as well as the chairman of the Silesian Universities Network.
