Prof. Krzysztof Gromysz has been appointed professor
Professor Krzysztof Gromysz was appointed professor of engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of civil engineering, geodesy and transport, on 23 July 2025. Prof. Gromysz, who graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering (1995) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of our University (2006), is the author of more than two hundred scientific publications, including three monographs as an independent author and two textbooks as a co-author.
Professor Gromysz's scientific activities focus on the field of civil engineering, geodesy, and transport. In his research, he investigated reinforced concrete structures, with particular emphasis on reinforcement–concrete bond behaviour, which provided the basis for his doctoral degree in 2001. Subsequently, his work focused on reinforced concrete composite slab, which resulted in his postdoctoral qualification (habilitation) in 2014.
Prof. Krzysztof Gromysz's research interests include the rectification of tilted buildings, construction in mining areas and the dynamics of buildings. The professor cooperates with industry, which has resulted in patent applications, jointly funded research projects, and the rectification of more than two hundred buildings, including dozens of 11-storey structures, as well as churches and industrial facilities. He is also involved in implementing rectification measures for severely deformed walls of historic buildings. His academic activity is closely integrated with engineering practice. He is an active designer and licensed building appraiser, as well as the author of hundreds of construction projects and expert reports.
From 2016 to 2023, he was the Head of Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and has been a member of the Senate of the Silesian University of Technology since 2024. He conducts teaching activities at his home Faculty and at the Joint Doctoral School.
