Prof. Janusz Kotowicz participated in the debate on renewable energy sources
The need to achieve climate neutrality, decarbonise the energy sector and increase the use of renewable energy sources in order to stabilize energy supplies - this is the subject of an expert panel with the participation of the vice-rector for cooperation with the socio-economic environment, prof. Janusz Kotowicz, organized by Gazeta Wyborcza as part of the conference "One planet. One life. Technology for the climate. Science - Business - Local Government ".
The event took place on October 25th, 2022.
The debate "New fuels and clean energy", chaired by Dariusz Kortko, editor-in-chief of "Gazeta Wyborcza" in Katowice, was attended by: prof. Janusz Kotowicz, Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Social and Economic Environment of the Silesian University of Technology; Beata Urych, plenipotentiary of the president of Katowice for climate matters and Włodzimierz Ehrenhalt, vice president of the Renewable Energy Association.
Discussion participants discussed, among others, whether the current energy crisis and greater demand for coal will not harm the development of renewable energy sources in Poland. The conversation also concerned the possibility of taking new, joint initiatives by European countries in the field of increasing energy security through cooperation of science, local governments and business circles.
