The Polish Science Gala is appreciated by scientists. This is an extraordinary holiday for the representatives of science in our country. The awards of the Minister of Science and Higher Education are presented in five categories.
This year, 20 awards for lifetime achievement, 33 awards for significant achievements in the field of scientific activity, 4 awards for significant achievements in the field of teaching activity, 6 awards for significant achievements in the field of implementation activity and 2 awards for significant achievements in the field of organizational. In turn, 150 people whose work is crucial for the development of Polish scientific thought and didactics received awards.

The involvement of each of you has a real impact not only on the development of technology, medicine, economy, or education, but also on the daily life of millions of Poles – said the Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulasek during the gala.
Among the winners was a representative of the Silesian University of Technology, Dr Hab. Eng. Jakub Nalepa, prof. SUT.
- This award is not only a confirmation of the fact that the research we conduct at the Silesian University of Technology is of very high quality, but also of the fact that they are important in a number of practical applications related to medicine, Earth observation or environmental monitoring - noted Prof. Nalepa. “Since the very beginning of my scientific career, I have been trying to connect the worlds of science and industry – together with fantastic people with whom I have the honour to work, we take up challenges that have been previously unresolved and difficult, and thanks to that extremely interesting. It is not only a job for us, but also a passion and great fun – he added.
We cordially congratulate the Professor and wish him further successes!
