Prof. Dr Hab. Eng Marek Pawełczyk with an important role in the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities (KRPUT)
From September 1st, 2024, the honourable role in the structures of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities will be played by Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk – Rector-Elect of the Silesian University of Technology.
On June 20th, during the KRPUT plenary meeting, hosted by the Gdańsk University of Technology, new authorities of this institution were elected.
Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of the Łódz University of Technology has been elected the Chair, and Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk – Rector-Elect of the Silesian University of Technology, and Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Krzysztof Wilde from the Gdańsk University of Technology and Dr Hab. Danuta Zawadzka, Prof. of Koszalin University of Technology were elected Vice-Chairs.
These are important nominations, especially since, as was emphasized during the meeting, the world of science is facing challenges related to, financing research and supporting the activity of young scientists. On these issues, technical universities should speak with one voice, therefore it is important to exchange experiences and develop common appeals and positions on key issues for the academic community.
Prof. Marek Pawełczyk accepts this distinction being aware of the challenges facing him.
- It is very important that the Silesian University of Technology is represented in the organisation where discussions take place and important decisions are made - said the Rector-Elect.
The Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities ( KRPUT ) has been operating since 1989 (previously under a different name) and is an autonomous assembly of 22 rectors of Polish technical universities and 11 associated universities. It serves to deepen ties and cooperation between universities. KRPUT, as one of the conferences of higher education institutions, is a member of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP).
