Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Dawid Janas received the title of professor from the President of the Republic of Poland
On July 30, 2025, the ceremony of awarding professor nominations took place at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, handed in the act of granting the title of professor in the field of science and natural sciences in the discipline of chemical science to the Vice-Dean for Science and Cooperation of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. D Hab. Eng. Dawid Janas.
Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Dawid Janas is a graduate of the University of Cambridge in Great Britain, where in 2014 he obtained a PhD degree at the Faculty of Materials Science and Metallurgy. Since 2016, he has been conducting research activities at the Silesian University of Technology.
His research interests focus on the synthesis, modification and application of carbon nanostructures, whose unparalleled properties make them associated with very high application hopes of potentially transformative significance for society. Professor Dawid Janas’s achievements in this area have been published in the form of over 100 publications in prestigious international journals. He has managed numerous projects financed by the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development and the National Agency for Academic Exchange.
Prof. Janas also actively cooperates with leading universities from all over the world and is an internationally recognized expert regularly conducting substantive work for recognized foreign institutions.
For his research activity he has been awarded many times in Poland and abroad. For years, he has been ranked on the list of 2% of the world’s most influential scientists in the ranking organized by Scopus and Stanford University in the United States. He was a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science (Start Program), the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Scholarship for Young outstanding scientists), the Polish American Fulbright Commission (stem Impact Award Scholarship), and the National Agency for Academic Exchange (Scholarship) Bekker, twice). He has also received the Silesian Science Award for researchers who significantly contribute to the development of science and promote it on the national and international arena, J. Binkiewicz Award for an outstanding scientist under the age of 35 from the Association of Friends of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology and the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Award for scientific and organizational activities.
