Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk in the Evaluation Team
Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk, the former Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, was appointed to the team to develop assumptions for a new model of evaluation of the quality of scientific activity. The team was appointed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulasek.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education is preparing changes in the evaluation system. A team has been set up to help plan the reform. The newly appointed team consists of representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and a wide representation of experts from the scientific community. In this group is the former rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk, who also acts as a delegate of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.
As we read on the Ministry’s website, evaluation of the quality of scientific activity is a key tool supporting the development of Polish science in successive cycles. Adapted to contemporary challenges, it will allow for a reliable assessment of the effectiveness of research and its impact on society and the economic environment, therefore changes in this area should be carefully planned and discussed in the scientific community.
The evaluation also contributes to a transparent and fair distribution of funds that go to Polish scientists.
The subject of changes in evaluation was also discussed during meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the NCBiR, which took place in recent weeks in universities all over Poland, also at the Silesian University of Technology.
