The motto "Experiment!" perfectly reflects the idea of the Silesian Science Festival, whose main objective is the popularization of science. It is an encouragement to boldly connect what seems contradictory and to cross boundaries. The festival attracts a lot of interest each year.
"The Silesian Science Festival demonstrates the tremendous value of science in our daily lives. Last year, the festival attracted 60,000 visitors, and I am convinced that the number will continue to grow each year, as it is an excellent opportunity to experience science, engage with it firsthand and see for yourself how it shapes our lives,” said Marshal Wojciech Saługa. "Science is the future of the Silesian Voivodeship. We want to be an attractive place to live, work and study, which is why it is so important that Silesian universities provide quality education and allow young people to develop and pursue studies at the highest level.
After the press briefing, the scientists from the invited Universities also had the opportunity to present scientific experiments. Our University was represented by Maciej Sowa, PhD Eng., and Aleksander Olesiński, MSc. Eng. from the Faculty of Chemistry. Participants could observe the spectacular process of plasma electrolytic oxidation. This is an advanced technique for the electrochemical treatment of metal and alloy surfaces.
