Silesian University of Technology awarded with the Katowice Airport statuette
On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the Grand Gala of the Upper Silesian Aviation Society SA took place at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. During the ceremony, the year 2023 at Katowice Airport was summarized and the assumptions of the investment program of the Katowice Airport for the years 2024–2028 were presented.
The gala was also an opportunity to honour people and institutions involved in the operation of the Katowice airport with symbolic statuettes. Among the winners was the Silesian University of Technology, with which Katowice Airport has been cooperating closely for many years. On behalf of the university, the statuette was received by the vice-rector for general affairs prof Bogusław Lazarz and dr hab. Eng. Pil. Jarosław Kozuba, prof. of Silesian University of Technology – Director of the Civil Aviation Personnel Training Centre of Central and Eastern Europe at the Silesian University of Technology.
- This is an important distinction for the university. The Silesian University of Technology, as a research university, pursues its mission of conducting advanced scientific research, educating based on this research and conducting it in cooperation with the socio-economic environment. All this undoubtedly contributes to the economic development of the region - said Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Prof. Bogusław Łazarz.
The symbolic statuette, with thanks for the good and substantive cooperation, was presented by Artur Tomasik - President of the Management Board of GTL SA.
