PLL lot and Silesian University of Technology start cooperation
After the ceremony inaugurating the new academic year, a cooperation agreement with LOT Polish Airlines was signed at the Silesian University of Technology.
The new academic year at the Silesian University of Technology begins with another important cooperation agreement. LOT Polish Airlines joined the group of partners of the Silesian University of Technology.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Rector of the Silesian University of Technology and President of the Management Board of PLL lot S.A. Michał Fijoł.
- We have been investing heavily in aviation in recent years. We educate pilots, mechanics, engineers, air traffic controllers, we have our own air base and aircraft. We want this education to be carried out at the highest level, and cooperation with partners such as lot Polish Airlines will certainly allow for it - emphasized Rector Pawełczyk.
A representative of LOT can also see many opportunities for fruitful cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology
- We are very happy to cooperate with universities, especially those that are at the forefront of Polish universities - said the President of PLL LOT S.A. Michał Fijoł. - We are pleased with today's signing of the agreement with the Silesian University of Technology. This is important to us because we need the best graduates, the best job candidates who will join our ranks. According to LOT’s CEO, aviation is currently one of the most competitive industries. Companies have to compete not only on Polish but also global markets, hence the need to educate outstanding staff in this area.
Michał Fijoł also stressed that LOT is developing very intensively, acquiring new aircraft, launching new destinations, and transporting an increasing number of passengers every year.
The satisfaction with the newly signed agreement was also shared by the chairman of the University Council and at the same time the president of the Upper Silesian Aviation Society Artur Tomasik.
- This is an important day for the airport in Pyrzowice and for the Silesian University of Technology. We have one of the best Civil Aviation Personnel Training Centres in Poland, with Rzeszów and Warsaw at the forefront. We have been educating pilots for years, making it possible to obtain a pilot’s license, and this opens up opportunities for work in companies such as LOT Polish Airlines. This beginning of cooperation opens up great opportunities for our students – said President Tomasik.
Cooperation with LOT will enable students to take internships in the company’s ranks in the nearest future. In the last internship program nearly five thousand students applied for the recruitment, and fifty could already implement such an internship. This shows that the opportunity to gain professional experience in this company is very popular among young aviators and engineers.
PLL lot also organizes competitions for the best bachelor’s, engineering, and master’s theses, which can be an interesting form of starting cooperation with the company.
