PKP Intercity consistently expands its cooperation with higher education. The national carrier has signed an agreement with the Silesian University of Technology. This is yet another agreement on joint scientific, technical and educational activities with a partner from the world of science. As a result of the signed agreement, PKP Intercity and the Silesian University of Technology will develop a new educational offer, which will include courses, training, dual studies, postgraduate studies, as well as new directions and specializations. The cooperation of partners will create new opportunities for students to develop professional competences. Thanks to cooperation, they will be able to take advantage of a wide range of services, including: internships, apprenticeships, practical classes and study visits.
- PKP Intercity is a very good cooperation partner for the Silesian University of Technology, where we educate students, among others in in the field of rail transport, but also many others that can also be used in the scope of the Company's operations. This training will of course be best if it takes place in very close cooperation with the future employer providing internships and apprenticeships. Our agreement also concerns joint activities in the area of research and development and the dissemination of knowledge, but above all, the promotion of rail transport as a form that has a huge future ahead of it - said prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk, the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.
The subject of the agreement with the Silesian University of Technology is also mutual substantive support and constant exchange of experience for the development and research of the railway industry, e.g., by implementing joint research and development projects, preparing analyses and expert opinions, organizing study visits for the academic staff of the university to organizational units of PKP Intercity.
- Prospects for the development of Polish railways are more and more promising. Now even more so as we tighten our cooperation with higher education. The implementation of the largest investment program in the history of PKP Intercity will be supported by specialized staff, based on high-class specialists from leading Polish universities. We are convinced that the exchange of knowledge and experience will benefit both parties - both us and the scientific community - emphasizes Krzysztof Świerczek, member of the management board of PKP Intercity.
