“PhD Journey" program at the Silesian University of Technology

Doctoral students of partner universities associated in the EURECA-PRO consortium have started the "PhD Journey" program at the Silesian University of Technology. The project is carried out in parallel at all partner universities.

“PhD Journey" is a joint program of universities associated in the EURECA-PRO consortium. It consists in a week-long exchange of doctoral students who take part in lectures, workshops, classes in laboratories and language courses. Doctoral students from partner universities came to the Silesian University of Technology from: University of Petrosani in Romania and Hasselt University in Belgium. In turn, doctoral students of the Silesian University of Technology visited, among others, Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria and Universität Bergakademie Freiberg in Germany.

– “The main purpose of the exchange is to establish closer cooperation and get acquainted with the research capabilities of a given University. In the longer term, we would like as many doctorates as possible to be carried out in partnership, so that two or three universities take care of one doctoral student and conduct international work. Having appointed supervisors at selected universities, a doctoral student could expand his research program, use the equipment and technical capabilities of another university “- said the director of the Doctoral School at the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Tadeusz Wieczorek.

The "PhD Journey" program is another program prepared for doctoral students and implemented as part of the EURECA-PRO consortium.

“There have been many similar initiatives over the past two years. We recently had a Forum of Young Scientists in Spain, which was also attended by PhD students from the Silesian University of Technology. We are constantly trying to encourage students and doctoral students to visit our partners as part of the consortium” - adds Dr. Eng. Marcin Gorski, prof. SUT, director of the Project Management Centre.

The "PhD Journey" program is being implemented for the first time, thirty doctoral students from all EURECA-PRO universities participate in the exchange.
