Partnership talks between the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology and the City of Rybnik
On September 20th this year, in the Municipal Office in Rybnik, another meeting of the authorities was held, regarding the development of cooperation between the Silesian University of Technology and the City of Rybnik.
Among the many topics discussed were the two most important: discussing the current activities and taking further steps related to cooperation aimed at creating the Design Centre (Fraunhofer) at the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik. This project was included in the list of projects to be financed under the Just Transition Fund. The priority is to implement responsible economic transformation, by supporting the development of smart specializations: green economy, medicine, emerging industries, ICT, energy.
Another key issue, which was presented by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Social and Economic Environment, Prof. Janusz Kotowicz, was the prospect of cooperation between the Silesian University of Technology and the City of Rybnik in the use of RES, as part of the consortium created – among others - by our University, called the National Center for Research and Implementation of Renewable Energy Sources. The essence of his activity is the use of the concept of the so-called Living Lab, which assumes, among others, construction of demonstrators in the field. President Piotr Kuczera declared his willingness to build such a demonstrator in the city of Rybnik.
The talks on the part of the Silesian University of Technology were attended by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Social and Economic Environment Prof. Janusz Kotowicz, Director of the Continuing Education Center Dr. Zygmunt Łukaszczyk, while the City of Rybnik was represented by the Mayor of the City Piotr Kuczera and the Head of the Development Department Mateusz Motyka.
