Paper session devoted to astronomy
Will we find life beyond Earth, Pluto then and now, seismological research on Mars and why galaxies die – all this could be found out by the participants of the paper session devoted to astronomical topics. The event was held under the patronage of the Institute of Physics of the Silesian University of Technology.
The event is organized by the ALMUKANTARAT Astronomical Club Association, the aim of which is to promote interest in astronomy. Secondary school students from all over Poland take part in it.
– Participants deliver twenty-minute papers on astronomy. Such a session is an opportunity to prove oneself as a speaker in a large hall, and also to see what the university looks like and perhaps decide to study here - said Karolina Komorowska from the Almukantarat Astronomical Club.
The session takes place at the Centre of New Technologies of the Silesian University of Technology. The patronage over the event was taken by the Institute of Physics.
- Working with secondary school students is very important. These are our potential students. Physics is, after all, issues that also relate to cosmic topics. That is why it is worth having contact with young people who pursue themselves in the natural, exact or technical sciences - said Dr. hab. Eng. Adam Michczyński, prof. SUT, director of the Institute of Physics.
