A day full of scientific emotions is already scheduled to take place on the 10th of May at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw. In the Cult Experiments Zone, scientists of the Silesian University of Technology, who prepared for this year’s edition of Picnic 20 activities, will be waiting for the participants.

The next edition of the largest popular science outdoor event in Europe is ahead of us - the 28th Science Picnic of the Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre. On the 10th of May, from 11:00 to 20:00 the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw will host science enthusiasts from all over Poland.

This year’s theme is “Out of this world!” It is intended to emphasize the uniqueness of the Universe and our attempts to get to know it in detail, as well as a historical event – in 2025, Sławosz Uznański will be the second Polish astronaut to fly into Space and as the first Pole will be one of the members of the International Space Station mission. Moreover, the organizers pay attention to the metaphorical meaning of the Picnic slogan. We shout this phrase when something surprises us and delights us. When we were almost sure of something, and after checking it out, it turns out that it is different. The same is true in science, which is constantly evolving, and research sometimes produces astonishing results. And this is a “real cosmos” – explains Program Director Irena Cieślińska and Deputy Program Director for Education and Scientific Communication Dr. Katarzyna Młynek.

Detailed information on the 28th Science Picnic can be found on the event’s website. The participation on the picnic is free of charge. It is organized by the Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre.
