The 2024/2025 season of basketball players AZS Silesian University of Technology began with the victory In the away match of the 2nd league they beat the Mountain Resorts Spartacus Jelenia Góra 63:59.

In connection with the renovation of the hall at Akademicka Street in Gliwice, basketball players from AZS Silesian University of Technology started the season later and the next matches will also be played away. This first match was also played away, as far as Jelenia Góra. The team, whose coach is Patryk Niczke, perfectly started the match there and after the first quarter led 17:9.

The next parts of the game were more even, but our team kept the lead until the end of the match and finally won. Two debuting female players – Karolina Kuszka and Oleksandra Hopkalo, who scored the most points for our team, respectively 16 and 13, played very well in the meeting. In addition, two more basketball players – Amelia Niczke and Julia Jargoń – scored more than ten hits.

We are very happy with our first victory. It is all the more valuable for us because it was a win in an away match, with a difficult opponent and after a fatal preparatory period. The great value is the attitude of our players - their determination and tenacity combined with resistance to the pressure of time and result. The girls did not “break” at any time and did not give up the lead for a moment, despite the fact that the opponents were able to reduce our advantage several times – said Patryk Niczke. - Antonina Szulc undoubtedly deserved the title of the revelation of the match. Tosia entered the top five players for the first time during her adventure with league basketball. It was a lot of excitement, but she took the pressure very well. She showed how valuable a player she can be when she starts to take full advantage of her height and shoulder range. While improving the effectiveness of throws, in the near future she can be a real force in the second league.
