The participants were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Marek Gzik and the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.
Prof. Marek Pawełczyk emphasized that the Silesian University of Technology is more than just a university. - Imagine a campus that from the very first moments gives you the feeling that anything is possible. You pass students coming back from laboratories, you hear conversations about projects that were just an idea yesterday, and today they are becoming prototypes. This is a place that lives in the future – this is what everyday life looks like at our University – said the Rector.
Silesian University of Technology belongs to the elite, ten research universities in the country, and its name appears in the rankings next to the best educational institutions in the world. - In the quality of research, we are in the first hundred of the best universities in the world - he noted.
Silesian University of Technology is not only a science – it is also a world that opens wide to young people. International projects, research trips, the European university EURECA-PRO, which we lead for the next two years, show that learning can start in Gliwice and finish anywhere in the world. In addition, the University offers almost 200 student research groups and student organizations, where you can pursue your passions – from robotics and design, to games, social activities, dance, singing, and sailing or mountain climbing. I wish you to find your place here, develop your passions and build the future – full of opportunities and challenges. Take advantage of the Open Days, take a look at our laboratories, and find out that the Silesian University of Technology is a university where it is really worth starting your adventure with science and career - said the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology Prof. Marek Pawełczyk.
The educational offer of the University was presented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Prof. Anna Chrobok.
- Silesian University of Technology is an open and friendly university for young people. It is a place where you can develop your passions, discover interests in laboratories and gain experience. It is also a place that prepares for the requirements of the labour market. At the same time, studying here is also a fantastic time, full of inspiring projects and meetings with interesting people - said Prof. Anna Chrobok.
The Open Days of the Silesian University of Technology is not only an opportunity to visit faculties and laboratories, but also a chance to talk with lecturers, students, and teachers.
- This meeting gives young people the opportunity to touch science, ask questions and get to know the university in practice. Personal contact with faculties and research groups is irreplaceable – emphasizes Dr Hab. Eng. Jarosław Brodny, Prof. SUT from the College of Studies.
Participation in the Open Days is also a chance to establish contacts and thoughtful choice of university. - You do not have to go abroad to develop your skills and passions – the possibilities are here, in Gliwice, at the Silesian University of Technology - emphasized Prof. Brodny.
Students are waiting for the pupils visiting the University and they will gladly tell their younger colleagues what studying at the Silesian University of Technology looks like.
- As students, we can best show what studying really looks like. Scientists talk about classes or laboratories, while we – as people who participate in them on a daily basis – can tell our younger colleagues what studying is like in real life – said Błażej Brudny, President of the Student Self- Government of the Silesian University of Technology.
- As a student self- government, we try to show that studies are not only about learning and passing exams. It is also a rich student life and many opportunities for development outside the lecture room – he adds.
