Olympiad Week in the City of Science

Emotions after the Paris Olympics have already subsided, but in the City of Science they are just beginning. On Monday, August 26, the Olympiad Week begins.

The boundaries between sport and science are becoming fluid. The organizers are going to explain this during the Olympiad Week.

“It is not only the determination and passion of the athletes, but also decades of scientific research that allow us to reach the heights of human possibilities,” reads the announcement of events that await us this week.

The inhabitants of Katowice and the region will have a chance to delve into the secrets of sports psychology, understand the mechanics of the movement of the human body, as well as learn about the history of the Olympic Games, which are a symbol of not only sporting competition, but also the spirit of cooperation and universal values.

How does technology affect the development of sport? How can modern training methods, based on data analysis, help a player achieve better results? How does the organization of such a great event as the Games affect the development of host cities, their infrastructure and social life?

During the Olympiad Week, you will find answers to these and many other questions, combining different fields of study into one great interdisciplinary experience.
