The inauguration of the academic year 2024/2025 at two faculties of the Silesian University of Technology took place during one joint ceremony in the auditorium of the European HealthTech Innovation Centre (EHTIC) in Zabrze.
- “The joint inauguration of these two faculties proves good cooperation at the start, which we wish for ourselves and the authorities of both faculties at the Zabrze campus of the Silesian University of Technology. I hope that the cooperation will translate into joint research and projects, but also investments” – said the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk and added that the Zabrze centre should soon be expanded to include The Student Creativity Centre, such as the one that has already been established on the campuses in Gliwice and Katowice.
This is not the only goal that the new authorities of the Silesian University of Technology set for themselves, but also the new authorities of the Deans of both Faculties. Since the 1st of September, the Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Management is Dr Hab. Eng. Aleksandra Kuzior, Prof. of Silesian University of Technology– and the Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering; Dr Hab. Eng. Marcin Basiaga, prof. of Silesian University of Technology
"I am interested in improving the quality of student education so that they can successfully find themselves on the job market as our graduates," said Prof. Aleksandra Kuzior. “We have already developed good practices in this area, which we will continue, but in response to the ever-new challenges posed by the world, we must teach students foreign languages, cooperation in groups and respect for human rights,” added the new Dean.

At the Faculty of Organization and Management, 945 students began their studies in both Polish and English. In total, about 2500 Polish and foreign students study at the Faculty.
A slightly smaller faculty is the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, where about 300 people are currently studying.
- “We are the smallest and youngest Faculty of Silesian University of Technology, but we have ambitious goals for years We want to grow both nationally and internationally. We are proud that as the only university in Poland we have a certificate of quality of education in the field of biomedical engineering” – said Dean Basiaga and added that access to the laboratory and scientific base located in the premises of the European HealthTech Innovation Centre (EHTIC) gives great opportunities to students who study in this centre.

The students themselves did not hide their emotions at the beginning of their student journey, but they are very positive about studying at the Silesian University of Technology.
“I am very interested in medicine and its connections with engineering. I was here for the open days, I found that it was a good place to study for me and I succeeded. After a few lectures, I am impressed and I hope that it will remain so until the end” – Michał Szołtysek, a student of the first year of biomedical engineering, did not hide his emotions.
