Nuclear Energy Open Day
On January 16th, 2024, the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology will host the Nuclear Energy Open Day. The event, which is addressed primarily to students and candidates for studies, will be an opportunity to learn about the Nuclear Energy field of study, which returns to our University after years of absence.
The reactivation of the education field is a natural response of our University to the need to gradually replace conventional energy sources with emission-free sources, and therefore to the market demand for qualified university graduates.
During their speeches, representatives of companies and institutions of great importance and market potential will talk about the need to build strong staff for the necessary nuclear investments in Poland. The expert voice will be heard both in the part devoted to the presentations of entities, as well as during the discussion panel. During the break between the two parts of the event, there will be an opportunity to talk directly to the invited guests with a cup of coffee or tea in your hand. The most important goal of the event organizers is to support the processes of shaping the educational paths and future professional careers of students of the Silesian University of Technology with the voices of experts.
The invitation was accepted by representatives of such global brands as EDF and GE Hitachi, market giants in the field of nuclear investments. The event will be honoured by the presence of experts from Orlen Synthos Green Energy, a company planning to implement modern modular nuclear reactors, also in the southern part of Poland. A representative of the National Atomic Energy Agency will talk about the role of nuclear supervision authorities, as well as the challenges related to building competent staff in this area. In turn, a representative of the Radioactive Waste Disposal Plant will speak about the specificity of work in the area of radioactive waste disposal and development plans for this increasingly important area of market activity. Activities to support the national value chain for nuclear energy will be discussed by representatives of Energopomiar and Energoprojekt-Katowice, which have been providing jobs for graduates of the Silesian University of Technology for many decades.
The event will take place in Auditorium 100B of the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering (Gliwice, 20, Konarskiego Street ).
