"Nights under the wings" at Gliwice airport
An air show of glider acrobatics and parachute jumps, reconstruction of a balloon flight, business planes take-off as well as concerts and film shows - such events are awaiting at Gliwice airport this weekend. The event "Nights under the wings" will take place there. It will also be attended by the Silesian University of Technology.
The event will be conducted on the 232nd anniversary of the historic Polish balloon flight. On 14 May 1790, an eccentric earl Jan Nepomucen Potocki was the first Pole who ascended into the sky over Warsaw in a balloon.
His achievement was admired by a large audience, including King Stanisław August Poniatowski. On the anniversary of this event, a two-day event "Nights under the wings" will be held at the Gliwice Airport. In the programme, apart from a reconstruction of balloon flight, there will also be air shows, parachute jumps, concerts and retro film shows.
The Silesian University of Technology will be present at the event. The Civil Aviation Personnel Education Centre for Central and Eastern Europe will present their aviation equipment, including aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles, i.e. drones. Visitors will also have an opportunity to talk to future pilots and aircraft mechanics who study at our University in the fields of air navigation, mechanics and air operation.
"Nights under the wings" will take place from 14 to 15 May 2022 at the Gliwice airport. For more information go to the website: Skrzydła nad miastem | Miasto Gliwice
