LEADER UP I – a new formula of THE LEADER program.

The initiative aims to increase the competences of young researchers in the field of independent running of projects with implementation potential, as well as establishing closer cooperation between science and business.

In the implementation of the LEADER UP competitions, three phases are envisaged, which will prepare the participants step by step for the effective preparation of projects and their implementation.

Phase I – Training and Mentoring

We have planned a package of trainings for young scientists and mentoring with people with experience in business and in the commercialization of scientific research.

  • Individual training cycle in key areas:
    • Entrepreneurship and creativity
    • Project management
    • Commercialization of scientific research
    • Building research and start-up teams
    • Self-presentation and presentation of research results
    • Marketing and Business Development
  • Mentoring with business experts and commercialization of research, tailored to the needs of the participant (e.g. start-up management, research development, sales of results).

Phase 2:  Project

Participants of the First Phase of the LEADER UP program who have completed the training program will be able to apply for the recruitment for the Second Phase, covering the implementation of the project.

  • Implementation of a research project with funding up to PLN 2.5 million.
  • Projects will include application research and development work.
  • Cooperation with a research organization.

Phase III – Pre-implementation

This is an additional stage that will allow young scientists to bring closer the possibility of implementing the results of the project implemented in the second phase and increase the chances of commercial success. Submission of an application for co-financing of pre-implementation works will be possible after obtaining a positive assessment regarding the implementation of the project in the second phase.

  • Additional financial support for projects with the greatest implementation potential.
  • Financing of pre-implementation work.
  • Cooperation with a research organization.

Recruitment schedule:

  • Announcement of the competition: First quarter of 2026.
  • Start of the call for phase I: First quarter of 2026.
