Musical inauguration of the academic year in Silesia

On October the 2nd, 2026, the campus of the University of Silesia in Katowice will host an event organized as part of the campaign “I am Here, You are Here. I build, I study, I create.” The program includes concerts of the Józef Słodczyk Brass Orchestra from the “Bytom” Mine, as well as concerts by Frele and Gooral. Start at 15.00.

We invite you to the event, which is carried out as part of the campaign “I am here, you are here. I build, I study, I create,” financed by European Funds. The campaign aims to show the Silesian Voivodeship as a place where young people can learn, develop and build their future.

Silesian University of Technology encourages students, PhD students, and the entire academic community to participate in the event. It is an opportunity not only to spend time together with music, but also to learn about current challenges and directions of development of the region.

The event will be an opportunity to jointly start a new academic year, and at the same time to talk about the changes taking place in the region and their significance for young people – students, graduates and people starting their professional career path.

One of the topics of the meeting will be the green and digital transformation of Silesia and related development, learning, and work opportunities. The organizers want to show that the changing region is not only about new technologies and economic transformation, but also new perspectives for people who connect their future with Silesia.

The event will take place in the space in front of the Scientific Information Centre and the Academic Library (CINiBA), on the Rawa River. The program will combine the information and educational part with concerts.

On the stage will perform:

· Józef Słodczyk Brass Orchestra from the “Bytom” Mine.

· Frele,

· Gooral.

There will also be prize quizzes between the performances.

The event is open and is addressed primarily to young people interested in studying, professional development, and the future of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Admission to the event is free of charge.
