Meeting of the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology with representatives of the National Academy of Education Administration from China
The Silesian University of Technology hosted a delegation of the National Academy of Education Administration of China (NAEA), a university educating management staff of Chinese universities and an institution affiliated, together with the Silesian University of Technology, in the Academic LEAD Network.
The Academic LEAD Network, which deepens the cooperation of European and Chinese academic centres aimed at strengthening academic leadership and improving the management of European and Chinese universities in the context of innovation and internationalization, was founded by Prof. Chang Zhu from Vrije Universiteit Brussels in cooperation with Prof. Mingying Jing (NAEA) and Prof. Marcin Górski, who is a member of the Management Board of the LEAD Network. The visit of the Chinese institution, which covers all universities of the Middle Kingdom, is a unique opportunity to strengthen relations.
– We are very happy to host representatives of such an important Chinese institution, which is engaged in the education of academic staff in the field of leadership – emphasized Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Chrobok, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education. - The meeting is an opportunity to develop new paths of cooperation and strengthen those that we have been developing intensively with Chinese universities such as Yanshan University, Shenyang Ligong University and Huzhou University since 2022. Currently, about 300 students from the Middle Kingdom are educated at the Silesian University of Technology – added Prof. Chrobok.
For the NAEA representatives, led by its Vice President, Prof Jingtian Yu, the visit to the Silesian University of Technology was an opportunity to present the most important areas of activity of this institution, which focus on the professional development of the teaching staff and the formation of leadership competences among university administrators. Guests also presented their latest initiatives, including the establishment of the Academy of Global Education Leadership, and the talks focused on opportunities for further cooperation.
– The reason for our visit is the reputation of the Silesian University of Technology in Poland and in the world – emphasized Prof. Jingtian Yu, Vice President of NAEA – We know that the University maintains fruitful relations with universities in the European Union, as well as with academic centres in China, and we would like to invite representatives of the Silesian University of Technology to China to share best practices and experiences. At the same time, we offer our support, because as a national centre of higher education leaders in China, we can help establish new or strengthen existing relationships with Chinese universities - added Prof. Yu.
– Our cooperation with NAEA has a several years of history – reminded Dr Eng. Marcin Górski, Prof. SUT, director of the Project Management Centre. – We started it in 2016 with projects dedicated to academic leadership and optimization of university management. Thanks to these initiatives, we were able to exchange experiences between the management staff of European and Chinese universities. On the one hand, we show our practices in the field of training academic staff and the development of scientific leaders, on the other hand, we create scientific and organizational tools that help identify leadership talents – said Prof. Górski, stressing the fact that cooperation with NAEA is also an opportunity to develop further joint projects and scientific publications with Chinese centres.
