Meet the Silesian University of Technology at the European Economic Congress
From 7th to 9th May 2024, the XVI European Economic Congress will take place at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. During this important event, you will be able to meet scientists from the Silesian University of Technology. We would like to invite you to a series of meetings and talks.
Meetings with the Silesian University of Technology at the European Economic Congress will be an excellent opportunity to talk about the most important challenges faced by scientists and engineers in the region on a daily basis. Today we invite you to a series of meetings that will take place at the Silesian University of Technology stand. We will discuss current topics related to, among others, cyber threats, modern aviation industry, education of the future or climate neutrality. We will show what modern projects are created within the walls of the Silesian University of Technology to support, for example, medicine and industry. At the stand you will see for yourself what a space rover, a drone for special tasks, modern prostheses, or an automated dog look like.

✅"Phoenix III - the rover of the Silesian University of Technology"
Members of the Silesian Phoenix project team will present an innovative mobile robot, Phoenix III, made of composite materials. The robot takes part in Rover Challenge competitions, such as the European Rover Challenge in Poland or the Anatolian Rover Challenge, in which it faces other student rovers from all over the world.

✅ “The future of the region is in the hands of scientists.”
The Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Arkadiusz Mężyk will talk about cooperation between scientists and companies in the Silesian Voivodeship, as well as about education for the needs of the market and the directions of the future, in which the Silesian University of Technology already educates today.

Dr Eng. Jarosław Homa will talk about the challenges related to cyber threats that we all face today. We will talk about new forms of cyberattacks and ways to fight these threats, but also reveal the role played by the Centre for Cybersecurity of the Silesian University of Technology in this process.

High Flyers - Academic Scientific Association will tell you about the activities of the Club in recent years We will introduce the mechanics and control of the VTOL vertical take-off aircraft and talk about the integration of the robotic arm with the flying platform. Finally, we will present a module for distributing the vaccine using a multi-rotor platform.

✅"Aviation of the future"
Dr Hab. Eng. Jarosław Kozuba, prof. SUT from the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology will present the prospects for the development of aviation and aviation industry and will tell you what challenges the creators of this progress face, whether Silesia is a good place for future pilots and aviation mechanics and what role the Silesian University of Technology plays in the education of aviation personnel of the future.

✅ “Climate neutrality, is it possible?”
Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Anna Skorek-Osikowska from the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology will talk about the conditions that must be met in order to achieve a zero balance of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere in 2050, whether an atom instead of coal is enough and what are the possible scenarios of energy transformation in Poland.

We would also like to remind you that in addition to discussions at the Silesian University of Technology stand, you will also be able to meet our scientists at numerous debates. Among the topics that will be undertaken by experts of the Silesian University of Technology will be technologies for climate, technologies supporting green transformation in construction, mineral raw materials, industry 4.0, sustainable urban logistics, as well as the engineer’s labour market.
