Marcin Górski PhD, Eng. as the Polish delegate in the Fédération internationale du béton

Marcin Górski PhD, Eng. from the Department of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering has been elected as the Polish delegate in the Fédération internationale du béton (fib) - the largest and most prestigious international organisation in the construction industry.

The scientist was elected by acclamation by the Section of Concrete Structures of the Committee of Civil Engineering at the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Marcin Górski PhD, Eng. emphasised that his appointment as a national delegate to the Fédération internationale du béton is first and foremost recognition for his long-standing activities on behalf of fib and his scientific recognition at both national and international levels.

- This certainly provides many opportunities for me to develop as a result of my participation in the management bodies of a key organisation in my sector. Above all, however, it creates additional opportunities for our University and the Polish environment. These are opportunities for the participation of a larger group of Polish scientists, especially young ones, in the work of technical committees and fib working groups on the most important pre-regulatory documents and textbooks with a global reach," he said.

The Fédération internationale du béton is a non-profit association established by national member groups in 104 countries and around 1,000 corporate and individual members. The fib's mission is to develop, at an international level, scientific and educational research that can contribute to technical, economic, aesthetic and environmental progress in the concrete structure sector.

Fib is considered the most prestigious international organisation in the field of civil engineering worldwide. Not only does it bring together universities and researchers, but also the most important international companies in the civil engineering and concrete and cement industries from all over the world. 

Marcin Górski PhD, Eng. has become a member of the fib's General Assembly and Technical Council, where Poland is represented by 4 persons.

The General Assembly meets at least once every two years and is the supreme authority of the association. Whereas the Technical Council meets at least once a year and is responsible mainly for initiating committees and task forces and approving all recommendations, guidebooks and manuals for publication.

According to Mr Górski, in the entire history of the organisation, before him, from the Silesian University of Technology, the position of the Polish delegate to the fib was held by the late Prof. Andrzej Ajdukiewicz.
