Lecture at the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Gliwice
On the 30th of April at 16:00 in Villa Caro in Gliwice (8A, Dolnych Wałów Street), another meeting of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) will take place, during which the Director of the Silesian Museum in Katowice, Dr Łukasz Galusek will present a lecture “Silesian adventure with modernity”.
Dr Łukasz Galusek is dealing with public diplomacy and the culture, art, and architecture of Central Europe. Director of the Silesian Museum in Katowice, in the years 2018-2025 program director of the International Cultural Centre in Krakow. Author and co-author of numerous publications, including “Socmodernism. Architecture in Central Europe during the Cold War (Krakow 2024), Imagined Capital Cities. Cities of the Habsburg Monarchy as Centres of Nations 1815–1918 (Krakow 2026); co-curator of exhibitions devoted to Central European art, including Architecture of Independence in Central Europe (2018), Laughing with One Eye, Crying with the Other Eye. Art of Romania from the Ovidiu Șandora collection (2025).
He is a member of the Program Council of the Polish-Czech Forum at the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. He Co-creates DILEMMA. The Mobile Academy of Dialogue bringing together intellectuals and artists from Central Europe, the Balkans, and the Caucasus. He is a member of the Social Committee for the Renovation of Krakow Monuments and the European Network of Urban History Museums at the Barcelona History Museum.
