Kacper Szczurowski, a competitor of the judo section of the KŚ AZS Silesian University of Technology, won the bronze medal in the Oceania Open tournament in Perth, Australia. The resident of Gliwice is fighting to go to the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris next year.

Let us remind you that Kacper won bronze in the Universiade in the summer. This time, the Polish representative, who competes in the over 100-kilogram category, did great in the senior competition.

The competitor of KŚ AZS Politechnika Śląska won ahead of time against three higher-classified rivals. They were Munir Ertug from Turkey and Slovenians Vito Dragić and Enej Marinić. Kacper lost only in the semi-finals to the German Erik Abramov. The Australian competition is part of the prestigious IJF World Tour series.

- I am satisfied with the result and winning the medal - explains Kacper Szczurowski. - I managed to get 350 points for the Olympic ranking. I am currently in 37th place. Only 18 people will go to Paris. Only one person can travel from each country. There are several representatives from the same country ahead of me in the ranking, which will ultimately result in me being higher in the ranking. I still have a long road ahead of me. However, the tournaments last until June and practically every month there are competitions, the scores of which influence who will go to Paris.
