Jakub Siedlarski with the bronze medal of the European Championships
Jakub Siedlarski, a fourth-year power industry student at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, won a bronze medal in the European Championships in water skiing behind the lift, which took place in Beckum, Germany.
Let us remind you that last year Jakub Siedlarski became vice-champion of the world and a three-time bronze medallist of the World Championships in Water Skiing. It was one of the greatest successes in the history of this discipline in Poland.
Water skiing is about swimming on one or two water skis behind the lift or behind a motorboat. The competition is divided into four age categories: open (for everyone willing), junior - up to 15 and 19 years and for seniors over 35 years of age. There are three competitions: slalom, figure riding and jumping.
For Jakub Siedlarski it is already the fifteenth year since he has been training this discipline. He celebrated this anniversary with a bronze medal of the European Waterskiing Championships in the open category, held in Beckum, Germany.
- The championships were played in three competitions: jumping, slalom and figure riding. In the slalom I managed to advance to the final, I almost qualified to the final in jumps – I was overtaken by 20 centimetres, so I did not manage to enter the final round. In the figure riding after the eliminations, I was in second place, but finally I finished the competition in seventh place. The biggest success of these championships for me is the bronze medal in the tri-combination, i.e. the total classification, which selects the most versatile player of all three competitions – recalls Jakub.
Jakub Siedlarski together with the Polish national team also won second place in the team classification.
- We had six players who together showed that Poland matters in Europe in this discipline! It was an amazing time full of emotions, competition at the highest level and sporting challenges. Thank you all for your support – sums up the student of our University.
