Invitation to the SAUL 2025 conference
On the 5th -7th of December at the University of Silesia in Katowice, under the slogan “Experimentation”, the fifth edition of the international and interdisciplinary conference Senses in Architecture, Urban Landscaping and Design SAUL 2025 Katowice will take place. The event is co-organized by the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice
Experimentation seems to be an attractive, integral, and indispensable element of the design process – objects, spaces, and entire environments. It takes many forms, involves many aspects, occurs in many contexts, and has many consequences.
This year’s conference will be devoted to the importance (and need?) for experimenting in theory and practice of design, architecture, and urban planning; experimenting widely understood, explicit and implicit; interdisciplinary, trans-cultural, global and regional. Its costs and benefits, its environmental, cultural, social, and economic consequences, health and legal issues and implementation difficulties.
Among the speakers and participants of the conference there will be representatives of science and practicing architects from Poland and the world, among others: Tomasz M. Rutkowski (RIKEN Centre for Advanced Intelligence Project, Japan), Jarosław Kapuściński (Stanford University, USA ), Eva Alvarez and Carlos Gomez (carlos gomez+eva alvarez arquitectes, Spain) Joanna and Wojciech Małecki (Małecki design office, Poland), Yui and Takaharu Tezuka (Tezuka Architects, Japan), Davide Ruzzon (TA Tuning Architecture, Italy), Michael Folwer (TU Berlin, Germany).
The event is held in English and is addressed to researchers, architects, PhD students, students, public administration employees, passionate about design and architecture.
The event is co-organized by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology, the Society of Polish Urbanists Silesia Branch and SARP.
The event is under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Wojciech Saługa and the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland. It also received co-financing from the budget of the Marshal’s Office of the Silesian Voivodeship.
The media patron of the event is the “Profession : The Architect” magazine
