Global Capstone Design is an international project-based learning (PBL) program that connects students and academic staff of partner universities from Europe and Asia to work together on practical engineering challenges. Participants form international, interdisciplinary project teams, developing innovative solutions that meet current technological, social, and industrial needs.

The program focuses on developing the competencies of the future – teamwork, intercultural communication, creative problem solving and practical application of technical knowledge in an international environment. The projects are carried out under the supervision of academic teachers and industry experts and cover the next stages of the project process: Problem analysis, concept development, prototype construction, solution testing, and presentation of results.

The 2026 edition will bring together students and lecturers of partner universities from South Korea, who have been cooperating with the Silesian University of Technology for many years in the field of design education and internationalization of the didactic process. Preparations for the event also included a September trip of academic teachers of the Silesian University of Technology to South Korea. The delegation visited Tech University of Korea, Kookmin University and Sun Moon University, where they discussed the development of didactic and scientific cooperation and the preparation of joint projects implemented during Global Capstone Design 2026.

Silesian University of Technology is hosting the Global Capstone Design event for the third time. In previous editions, students, and employees of many faculties of the University, in particular the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, were involved in the implementation of the projects.

We cordially invite representatives of all interested Faculties to participate in the official opening of the event, which will take place on the 25^th of May 2026 at 9:00 in Hall 300 at the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering, and Industrial Automation.

We also encourage you to participate in the event summarizing the project, which will take place on the 28^th of May 2026 in Hall 300 according to the following schedule:

- 9:00–13:00 – final presentations of international project teams,

- 15:30 - Awards ceremony and official conclusion of Global Capstone Design 2026.
