Invitation to a lecture on education with the use of technology

Cretan University of Technology , a member of the European University of Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO), organizes a series of open scientific lectures  as part of the mobility of professors. Another lecture in the series will be given by Dr Bożena Wieczorek, assistant professor at the Department of Algorithmics and Software of the Silesian University of Technology (SUT), which is one of the partner universities of the EUREKA-PRO program.

Dr Bożena Wieczorek is visiting the Cretan University of Technology since the 26th of May 2025, where she meets with professors and employees of this institution. As part of the visit, she will give a lecture entitled: “Coding, Cognition, and Kinect: Education with Technology.”

The lecture is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 16:00.

You can listen to it both on-site and online. The live broadcast will be available on social media of the Technical University of Crete - Facebook.

The lecture is open to all members of the Technical University of Crete and EURECA-PRO, as well as to all interested parties.

The presentation will discuss two approaches in the field of educational technologies. The first focuses on the implementation of an automated evaluation system, which aims to support programming education and reduce the burden of manual code evaluation. The second part explores the combination of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and psychology by using data from the Kinect sensor to estimate ego states, applying the principles of transactional analysis.

It is worth adding that Dr Bożena Wieczorek is an assistant professor at the Department of Algorithmics and Software at the Faculty  of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. Her research interests focus on algorithms and parallel programming. She also explores the possibilities of using modern technologies in teaching programming.
